RE: Trailer storage North East Cincinnati

Dennis was full. I found a place on the northwest side but want to see if there is something closer to Loveland.

Trailer storage North East Cincinnati

Just took a job in Cincinnati, OH. Will be living in Loveland on the northeast side. Looking for a place to store the trailer. Anyone know of any place?
Thanks,
Tom

RE: Close to New TT/TV Decision

Based on our experiece with the Jeep, the GVW should be fine. Figure 850 lb tonque wt load the truck about 650 lbs (after W/D), DW, and our golf clubs that should leave 700 lbs or so of excess. We'll probably load the TT to ~7500 lbs.
A 3/4 ton anything is not a consideration. I hate the empty ride and want to use it for more then towing. The Ram looks more like a luxury SUV that a Pickup and that's perfect as I have no need for the functionality of a pickup other then the tow rating.
I would plan on 900-1000 lbs of hitch weight. And don't use vurb weights and dry weights. They are for a truck with no options installed. Unless you are buying a truck with no options installed.
You will be at or slightly overweight. If that doesn't bother you, this should be a fine combo.

RE: Sway Issues

First thing I would want to know is the tongue weight. It looks like you know the approximate loaded weight. I would take it to the scales and find out what the actual trailer and hitch weights are and we can go from there.
Or you can use the bathroom scale with a lever arm trick. Or buy a Sherline hitch scale for $100 (that's what I did).
Regardless, actual data is the order of the day.

RE: How does a reg. car pull a trailer?Do you have any Pics?

My truck overhang is 50" with a 141" wheelbase, or 35%. My minivan is 42" on a 119" wheelbase, or 35%.

RE: How does a reg. car pull a trailer?Do you have any Pics?

I get tired of hearing the misinformation that a truck has a longer overhang than a car or minivan. My truck's overhang, expressed as a percentage of the overall wheelbase, is identical to my minivan.
To answer the OP, folks didn't worry as much back then. Now we have seat belts, airbags, anti-lock brakes and speed limits. And when a cop pulls you over for DUI, not only does he dump all yer beer out on the road, he sends you to jail. What's the world comin' to?

RE: 1/2T Crew Max Pickup

How many people tow a trailer with an empty truck? How many people buy a truck with no optional equipment at all? If you are one of these folks, you can tow at the max tow rating and carry the max payload. If not, you have to actually engage your brain and do a little research to determine what you can tow. I love this quote from the Weight Police thread:
"Everybody wants a magic bullet that excuses them from thinking. Too bad lazy boy, it don't exist."
I can't take credit for it, but agree wholeheartedly. Weigh your rig, know your limits and tow safely.

RE: Ultra Fab 3002 Tongue Jack Shear Pin

Take the top off of the jack and you will see this:
http://tomhole.com/3500%20broken%20shear%20pin.jpg width=480
For a temporary fix, I just put a hex key in the hole on the center shaft. Leave the top off while doing this or the hex wrench might slide out and muck up everything in there.
I ordered a replacement from ultra fab. Not sure of the part #. Actually, I ordered 2 for when this one breaks again. Really a bad design, IMHO. Good that it fails at a replaceable part, bad that it fails under normal use.

RE: Why do people not use their bumper sewer storage?

My fittings won't fit in the bumper. I used a 5" PVC fence post. Much cheaper than the 6" pipe.

RE: Help settle a bet - How often do you shower?

Family of 4, all shower every day when camping. We had to sell the pup with no shower in order to have our own. I didn't care (spent 20 years on aircraft carriers), but the ladies would not go camping anymore if it meant using the campground showers (which I thought were fairly clean). So, I get to run up to 200 ft of hose out every night to refill the fresh water tank. It's worth it.

RE: Hitch for new HTT

I'm pretty sure you can just swap out the bars on the Eaul-i-zer as well and get the higher rating later, if required. I don't think the shank is a different part number between the two. I would stick with the 600 lbs bars for your 23B and get bigger bars later.

RE: HTT biggest complaint ?

Two things on our 2006 Rockwood Roo 23SS:
1. Outside storage
2. Had to make the beds every trip after arrival. My wife hates sleeping bags. If you use sleeping bags, then this is a non-starter.
We went to a TT and removed these drawbacks. Unfortunately, we gained a couple new ones. 1. Much bigger to tow, store and find a spot in the state campgrounds.

RE: What is this guy thinking?

I'm surprised that the trucking industry hasn't caught on to Andy's towing idears. They could sure save a lot by towing with Mini-Coopers instead of those MDT's and HDT's. Years ahead of his time.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and not say HIS setups are unsafe. All the morons that use him to justify their overweight, unsafe rig are the ones that scare me. "Andy does it, so can I." Maybe they're not as smart as Andy. I'm sure you've seen one of them on the road.
Time was cars were built sturdier than trucks (1976 Cadillac ElDorado convertible with a 10L motor). Not sure that's the case nowadays.

RE: Where to put weight in Trailer

I would spend $120 and get one of these:
http://www.sherlinedirect.com/images/prodimg/lmpicm.jpg
http://www.sherlinedirect.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=169
Load the dump truck so you have at least 10% weight on the hitch. Pretty simple.
